One of my favorite early paintings. St. Bega’s Church is located in the lovely lake district of England. I came across it one Sunday afternoon just as service was letting out. It is named for an Irish girl who came here around AD 850, fleeing from an unwanted marriage, and near here she preached and healed for many years, with miracles attributed to her prayers.
